I've got an AMD K6-2 based system on a FIC VA503+ MVP3 chipset Computer
with a 3Com 905B-TX ethercard in it that sporadically decides to quit
transmitting or receiving. Usually occurs when I load the machine
a bit (i.e. start an ftp on the local lan from another well
connected machine), but its not really that readily repeatable. Usually
happens over the weekend when im trying to get something done from home :P
Network traffic just stops, no errors logged, nothing abnormal that I can
tell. A simple
# ifconfig eth0 down
# ifconfig eth0 up
and it starts working again.
Any ideas? I've tried 2.2.12 and 2.3.40 kernels under RedHat 6.1.
