Could someone point me in the correct direction to look for the cause of
"bus errors" and some log errors indicating problems writing to devices
on my SCSI chain? I've checked /var/log/messages, /proc/scsi/*, and
/proc/pci, however everything seems to look normal.
I have seen console messages indicating errors accessing my SCSI hard
disks, and I had an application (dnetc personal proxy for
distributed.net) die indicating "bus error". This all started after my
machine had been running for around 30 days or so without a reboot.
Sometime this am X also came down. Upon further inspection I found
sendmail and nmbd had also stopped. I rebooted and saw no boot time
errors. One message I seem to get often but can't put a finger on is:
VFS: Disk change detected on device sr(11,0)
Note I change no media prior to this message appearing.
I'm running 2.2.13-7mdk, the default (a "pre" as I recall) shipped with
Mandrake 6.0. My scsi adapter is an Adaptec 2940UW, bios 1.25 or so, and
my disks are a Quantum 4.1GB and a Seagate 'Cuda 4.1GB. CPU is PPro
200/512 on an Asus mb.
Any pointers will be greatly appreciated!
