OTOH, she had warts. The message you garble is from the partition boot
record in the dos partition, and once you get that, lilo has already
done its job. I guess the easiest way you could confuse the
dos partition boot program so would be to have changed the BIOS mapping
of the harddrive it is on between the time you formatted c: and the time
you tried to boot it. That would make the geometry it uses to figure
out where to look for io.sys and msdos.sys wrong, and it would never
find them, so it would emit that message. If that is what you did, the
easiest way to fix it is to reinstall dos with the right BIOS mapping,
and not change it anymore.
