I wanted to live dangerously, so I tried the pre-2.1.0 patch. It compiles
ok, but I can't get it booting.
All I get are the usual startupmessages until "Now booting the kernel" and
after this message there is a pause of about half a second and then my
computer just resets.
Hmmmm.... what information of my setup are useful in this case.... let's
just start and hope that I don't forget something important.
- I tried booting with lilo-18.dev experimental release. But this shouldn't
make any difference because a bootdisk doesn't work either.
- gcc 2.7.2
- Asus PCI-SP3 saturn (rev 2) motherboard with intel 486DX2/66 and ncr
on board (I normally use the bsd ncrdriver, and I've compiled it with
forced IO-mapped, but the kernel doesn't get that far.
- 16MB RAM
- 2.0.21 works just fine on my setup
